Tending the Hearts of the Helpers: a 4-week Mindfulness Meditation Course for Mental Healthcare Workers
This course aims to teach an individual mindful meditation practice, while also serving as a pop-up village of communal support and care. The series will support each participant in developing their capacity to be present with what is happening, with openness, curiosity, and without judgment. We will gently and tenderly turn toward both what's beautiful and what’s difficult in an embodied, trauma-informed way. This course promises to not ignore or turn away from the systemic forces we are all up against, while also acknowledging that meeting these forces with greater steadiness, groundedness, and compassion, will make us more effective as individuals and collectively.
This course is being offered free of charge and will meet on the four Thursdays of May, from 8-9am, on Zoom.
Nature Connection Gatherings
Into the forest I go, to lose my mind and find my soul. - John Muir
Research shows that when we immerse ourselves in nature, our mood improves, our stress and anxiety decrease, the area of the brain associated with depression becomes less active, and we become more attentive and creative. In short, we feel better. When we gather with others to share our stories, we gain insights, make meaningful connections, and we find lost aspects of ourselves reflected back to us. These workshops are part forest bathing, part nature-based, pop-up village rites of passage experiences. Come join us as we plant our feet on this earth and let nature invite us in. Contact Amy to learn about future offerings or interest. Amy is also available for private nature immersion and forest bathing experiences.
Mindfulness Series
You are the sky. Everything else... It’s just the weather. - Pema Chödrön
We know the benefits of a regular meditation practice are many, yet being with ourselves in its simplicity and solitude is astonishingly difficult. In subtle (and not so subtle) ways, we struggle with what is, by avoiding or fighting against what is happening inside ourselves. This 10-week workshop will be a support for establishing, re-establishing, or going deeper into a regular practice by holding the context of being with what arises in our bodies and in our minds as we turn inward. Essential to supporting this endeavor, we will identify, discuss, highlight, and catch moments of presence that can act as the ultimate internal support for sitting and staying with our experience. Contact Amy to learn about future offerings or interest. Amy is also available for private meditation instruction.
